Dr. Karen Glerum
Secretary of the Florida Dental Association
Dr. Karen Glerum is originally from the Baltimore, Maryland area. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Biology from Loyola College in Maryland before graduating near the top of her class from the Georgetown University School of Dentistry.
After dental school, Dr. Glerum moved to Florida to complete advanced residency training at the Miami Veterans Hospital and Jackson Memorial Hospital—an opportunity offered to only about 10% of dental graduates nationwide.
Following her residency, Dr. Glerum established her private practice and has proudly served the Boynton Beach community for more than 30 years. Her practice has grown through a commitment to personalized care, clinical excellence, and building lasting relationships with patients.
Dedicated to lifelong learning, Dr. Glerum and her team complete more than 200 hours of continuing education each year to stay at the forefront of modern dentistry. She has completed advanced training through the Dawson Academy, The Pankey Institute, and Spear Education, with a focus on cosmetic dentistry, comprehensive treatment planning, and long-term oral health. Her philosophy is simple: creating beautiful smiles is important, but creating smiles that last is even more important.
Dr. Glerum is also a mentor to local study clubs and has taught advanced cosmetic dentistry techniques to fellow dentists through the nationally recognized Aesthetic Advantage Institute. She believes that exceptional dentistry requires a lifelong commitment to education and continually invests in learning the latest evidence-based techniques and technology.
Beyond caring for patients, Dr. Glerum is a respected leader within the dental profession. She currently serves as Secretary of the Florida Dental Association (FDA), one of the organization’s highest elected leadership positions. She has also served as an FDA Trustee and Peer Review Chair, helping evaluate and resolve complex cases involving dental treatment while promoting the highest standards of patient care throughout Florida.
Her leadership extends to the local level as well. Dr. Glerum made history as the first and only woman dentist to serve as President of the South Palm Beach County Dental Association, and she also served as President of the Atlantic Coast District Dental Association. These leadership roles reflect the trust and respect she has earned from her colleagues across the state.
Giving back remains a central part of her career. Dr. Glerum and her team regularly volunteer with the Florida Mission of Mercy, providing free dental care to underserved communities throughout Florida.
Dr. Glerum lives and works in the Boynton Beach area and is the proud mother of two daughters. Outside the office, she enjoys reading, cooking, exercising, traveling, and spending time with her family. She believes dentistry and motherhood share many of the same values—patience, compassion, dedication, and a genuine desire to help others thrive.
